Indigenous Youth Outreach

Summer 2024 programming will be announced in the new year!

Our programming for Indigenous youth is designed in partnership with Anishnabeg Outreach Centre for Indigenous Healing to offer hands-on exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) interwoven with Indigenous Ways or Knowing.

CE x AO STEM Summer Camp (2023)

This year, our Indigenous Youth STEM Summer Camp will be held from Tuesday, August 8th – Friday, August 11th. Camp will be hosted at the Anishnabeg Outreach Centre (236 Woodhaven Rd, Kitchener, ON, N2C 1V5) from 9:00AM – 3:00PM.

Campers who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit and/or Métis and are entering grade 2-8 in September 2023 (between 7-13 years old) are encouraged to register and join in on the camp fun!

What to expect at camp?

Camp will be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities focused on highlighting areas of STEM in hands-on, exciting ways. Each camp day will have two snacks and one lunch break as well as incorporate non-education focused camp activities to balance the learning with fun!

Campers will be lead by Creative Encounters’ trained undergraduate staff and be supported by Anishnabeg Outreach’s Early-On staff.

What to expect before camp?

Registration is free but mandatory for attendance. Space is limited so folks are encouraged to sign-up ASAP to secure their spot.

The guardians of all registered campers will be contacted ~1-2 weeks before the camp begins with a Pre-Camp Package containing further information on drop-off/pick-up, what to bring to camp, and more!

In the meantime, any questions, comments and/or concerns can be emailed to cse@uoguelph.ca – we are more than happy to help!
